The Tragedy and Triumph of the 1936 Tornado in Gainesville In-Person
Marie Bartlett will present the history of the 1936 tornado in Gainesville, Georgia. She will share accounts of witnesses, the impact on various communities, and artifacts related to President Franklin D. Roosevelt's visits to Gainesville after the tornado hit and after the city was rebuilt.
Marie Bartlett is the Director of the Ada Mae Ivester Education Center at Northeast Georgia History Center in Gainesville, GA.
