Short Story Contest Begins In-Person
Calling all middle and high school-aged writers! Write an original short story based on the prompt provided by your librarian for a chance to be featured in a book! Keep reading for more details:
Your writing prompt will be available to take home starting November 3rd, and entries will be accepted from November 3rd to November 21st. The requirements for entry are as follows:
- All short story entries must be library appropriate (no cursing, explicit content, or anything you wouldn't want a grandparent to read)
- Entries must be completely original and double-spaced
- Please use Times New Roman, Arial, Georgia, or Calibri font
- Stories must be no more than 2,000 words
- Stories that have won and/or placed in other short story competitions are not eligible
- Please include your name and age in your entry, along with the title of your story and the prompt you are writing for, as middle schoolers will receive a different prompt than high schoolers.
All short story entries can be emailed to rbuckley@hallcountylibrary.org as a PDF or .docx. The file name must be the title of the story followed by your last name (Ex. A Walk in the Woods_Rachel Buckley). This should be the only time we see your name. Please do not put your name anywhere in your story, as we want this competition to remain anonymous.
